Introduction
Our costs are set out in accordance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s requirements for transparency. The cost of legal services depends on the type of work, complexity, the stage at which the matter is concluded and other relevant factors.
Before we start any work, we will provide you with an estimate of our charges and confirm the basis on which costs will be charged.
Basis of Charging
We may charge:
- Hourly rates (plus VAT) for certain matters; or
- Fixed fees (plus VAT) where appropriate.
An indication of typical hourly rates and fixed fees can be provided on request. Our current standard hourly rate is £350 plus VAT. This rate will vary depending on the fee earner acting on your matter.
VAT and Disbursements
All fees quoted are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate (currently 20%). You are also responsible for any disbursements and third-party costs which may arise, including court fees, counsel fees, expert reports, and Home Office fees.
Disbursements will be incurred in addition to our legal fees and we will seek your authority before incurring them. Disbursements are additional third party costs, such as Counsel’s fees, Expert fees, Court fees, and other expenses incurred on your behalf. These additional costs will be payable by you directly or added to your bill.
Payment Terms
We normally require payment of fees and disbursements in accordance with a client care letter which will be issued at the outset of instructions. Payment on account may be requested.
